Zamfara State University is a public higher education institution located in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, Nigeria. It was established in 2018 by the then Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul'aziz Yari, to expand access to higher education within the state.
Library
The university library, though relatively young, has experienced steady growth in its collection and services. It officially began operation on January 4, 2015, at the permanent site of the Federal University Gusau Library, before Zamfara State University was formally established. The initial collection comprised over 4,000 books and 265 publications, sourced largely from Book Aid for Africa, the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Prof. A. D. Forbes, Allen Forbes, and the Gusau Institute, among others.
The main library is now located in the newly constructed Multipurpose Hall, adjacent to the University Medical Center and the Faculty of Humanities & Education. It serves three faculties and seventeen departments within the university.
As of now, the library’s collection includes:
- 21,686 volumes of books
- 1,555 volumes of periodicals and serials, including:
- Journals (domestic and international)
- Newsletters
- Magazines
- Bulletins
