Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem (born October 22, 1948) is a Nigerian academic and public servant. He is a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and served as Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). AbdulRaheem holds a doctorate degree from the University of Kent, United Kingdom.


Academic and Administrative Career

AbdulRaheem is widely recognized for his contributions to education and public policy in Nigeria. During his tenure as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ilorin, he implemented numerous reforms aimed at enhancing academic standards and institutional governance.

He also served as Chairman of the Visitation Panels to: - 25 Federal Polytechnics - 21 Colleges of Education

These roles involved assessing the performance and compliance of these institutions with federal guidelines and educational mandates.


Political Career

AbdulRaheem has been active in Nigerian politics, contesting for the position of Governor of Kwara State under several political parties: - People’s Democratic Party (PDP) – 2011 and 2015 - All Progressives Congress (APC) – 2019 - Social Democratic Party (SDP) - New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) – 2023 (as gubernatorial candidate)

His political advocacy often centers around equity, social justice, and improved educational systems.
