Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan
Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan (born 22 September 1985) is a Nigerian politician and a member of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly, representing Badagry Federal Constituency since June 2023. He has sponsored fifteen bills and moved several motions at the National Assembly.
Early Life and Education
Whingan was born into the royal family of Maseno in Ikoga-Zebbe, Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State, to Mr. Hunyingan Pius and Mrs. Hunyingan.
- Attended St. Benedette Nursery and Primary School and Ijemo Titun High School, both in Abeokuta, Ogun State
- In 2009, earned a degree in Mass Communications from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye
- Later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom
Political Career
Whingan is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
- In 2023, he won the House of Representatives seat for Badagry Federal Constituency with 34,970 votes
- In the 10th Assembly, he serves as:
- Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream)
Initiatives
Badagry 1000TTP
On 6 November 2024, Whingan partnered with Codeverse Africa to launch the Badagry 1000TTP initiative — a program aimed at equipping 1,000 youths with essential technology skills.
- The first cohort of 200 participants was selected from:
- Badagry Local Government
- Olorunda Local Council Development Area
- Badagry West Local Council Development Area
Philanthropy
Whingan is the founder of the Sesi Whingan Foundation in Badagry. The foundation has contributed to:
- Road construction and rehabilitation
- Primary healthcare center refurbishment
- Teacher and student recognition
- Distribution of food and cash gifts to residents
