Okechukwu Onuchukwu is a Nigerian professor of economics and the acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, located in Rivers State, Nigeria.

Early Life and Background

• Graduated from the University of Port Harcourt in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
• Obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the same university in 1994.
• Earned a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics from the University of Port Harcourt in 1998.

Career

• Served as Dean, Faculty of Social Science, University of Port Harcourt.
• Served as Director, University of Port Harcourt Business School.
• Former Head, Department of Economics, University of Port Harcourt.
• Appointed as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in 2021 by the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike.
  • His appointment followed the completion of the tenure of former Vice Chancellor Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele.
