Hymenostegia aubrevillei is a medium-sized tree in the Fabaceae family, found in riparian habitats. It is endemic to Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana (notably the Krokosua Hills and across the Dahomey Gap), and Nigeria.

The species is threatened due to habitat loss caused by deforestation, mining, agriculture, and fires.
