Daniel Kolawole Olukoya is a Nigerian pastor, scientist, and professor. He is the founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). He is notable for being the first Nigerian scientist to clone genes.


Early Life and Education

  • Born in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria to Mr. Olukoya (a police officer) and Mrs. Olukoya (a trader).
  • Attended:
    • St. John's CAC Primary School, Akure.
    • St. Jude's Primary School, Ebute Metta, Lagos (after family relocation).
    • Methodist Boys' High School (MBHS), Broad Street, Lagos.
  • In 1976, received a scholarship to study Microbiology at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
    • Graduated with First-Class Honours, the first person to achieve this in the course.
    • Holds the highest recorded GPA in that department (as of February 2010).
  • Awarded a PhD scholarship to the University of Reading, UK.
    • Completed PhD in Molecular Genetics in just 3 years.

Scientific Career

  • Joined the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, after his PhD.
  • Published over 70 scientific papers in a short period.
  • Served as:
    • Lecturer in Genetics.
    • External Examiner in multiple Nigerian universities.
    • Presenter at global scientific conferences.
  • Founder of Daniel & Fola Biotechnology Foundation, an NGO aimed at equipping Nigerians with modern molecular biology and biotechnology skills.
  • Invented DogiK, a new type of Ogi (fermented cereal) that:
    • Controls diarrhea
    • Has enhanced nutritional value
  • Honours:
    • Doctor of Science, University of Lagos (April 2019)
    • Professor of Biotechnology, Mountain Top University (December 2022)

Ministry

  • Founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).
    • Began in the early 1990s in a rented hall on Old Yaba Road, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
    • Now has branches across Nigeria and in over 120 countries.
    • Owns Mountain Top University and MFM Football Club (MFM FC).
  • Ministry is influenced by:
    • His father, a pastor at Christ Apostolic Church.
    • The teachings of Joseph Ayo Babalola, CAC founder.

  • Married to Elizabeth Folasade Olukoya since 1989.

  • Known for the song "Oke Nla Sidi" ("O ye mountain, be removed"), inspired by a long wait for his son.
