Daniel Kolawole Olukoya is a Nigerian pastor, scientist, and professor. He is the founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). He is notable for being the first Nigerian scientist to clone genes.
Early Life and Education
- Born in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria to Mr. Olukoya (a police officer) and Mrs. Olukoya (a trader).
- Attended:
- St. John's CAC Primary School, Akure.
- St. Jude's Primary School, Ebute Metta, Lagos (after family relocation).
- Methodist Boys' High School (MBHS), Broad Street, Lagos.
- In 1976, received a scholarship to study Microbiology at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
- Graduated with First-Class Honours, the first person to achieve this in the course.
- Holds the highest recorded GPA in that department (as of February 2010).
- Awarded a PhD scholarship to the University of Reading, UK.
- Completed PhD in Molecular Genetics in just 3 years.
Scientific Career
- Joined the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, after his PhD.
- Published over 70 scientific papers in a short period.
- Served as:
- Lecturer in Genetics.
- External Examiner in multiple Nigerian universities.
- Presenter at global scientific conferences.
- Founder of Daniel & Fola Biotechnology Foundation, an NGO aimed at equipping Nigerians with modern molecular biology and biotechnology skills.
- Invented DogiK, a new type of Ogi (fermented cereal) that:
