**Bunu Sheriff Musa** (14 January 1947 – 5 December 2021) was a Nigerian administrator, engineer, diplomat, and statesman who served in various ministerial capacities under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was also a former Nigerian ambassador to France and chairman of the governing council of Ahmadu Bello University.

## Early Life and Education

Bunu Sheriff Musa was born in **Maiduguri**, Nigeria, on 14 January 1947.  
- He began his education at a local primary school in Maiduguri.  
- He attended **Government College, Maiduguri**, graduating in **1967**.  
- He proceeded to the **Federal School of Science**, where he obtained his Higher School Certificate.  
- Musa earned a **Bachelor’s degree in Engineering** from **Ahmadu Bello University**.  
- He later obtained a **Master’s degree** in Engineering from the **University of Southampton**, UK.

## Engineering and Administrative Career

From **1970 to 1980**, Musa worked as an engineer with the **Inland Waterways Division** of the **Federal Ministry of Transportation**. He then transferred to the **Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA)**.  
- In **1981**, he was appointed **General Manager of CBDA**.

## Ministerial and Diplomatic Service

After the military coup that brought **General Ibrahim Babangida** to power in 1985, Musa became a prominent member of the Federal Executive Council:
- **Minister of Industries**
- **Minister of Mines, Power and Steel**
- **Minister of Aviation**
- **Minister of Water Resources**
- **Minister of Labour** (1990), where he mediated labour unrest and negotiated a minimum wage increase with union leaders.

In **1998**, he was appointed **Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria to France**.

- From **2009 to 2012**, Musa served as **Chairman of the Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University**.
